Greetings From Julian Moore

Greetings. I will call myself Julian Moore. I decided to start a blog under the pen name of Julian Moore to share some of my thoughts and ideas with the world.

I live in Richmond Hill with my family. I am happy now. I want to seclude myself from the world. I can use a cocoon so I can grow up into a butterfly.

  1. Здравствуйте. I just discovered this blog. I don't know how long you've had the link to it in your signature at Suscipe Domine, but I only noticed it for the first time today.

"Julian Moore" is a good pen name. It's also the masculine version of the name of the famous actress Julianne Moore. I can't say I'm a massive fan of hers or anything myself. I definitely did like her in "Boogie Nights," however, which is one of my favorite films of the 1990s. It's a movie where every cast member is perfect in their role, although obviously it isn't a movie for traditional Catholics. Completely unrelated, but Julianne Moore is considered by the owner of a certain traditional Catholic forum as the most beautiful celebrity out there, and if I remember correctly his number two is Emily Blunt. He's an interesting fellow. In any case, I realize that you probably didn't have Julianne Moore in mind when you came up with this pen name as a youngster, so I apologize for the digression. This is no place for celebrity gossip.

Somehow I like the fact that your background image is a lone and forlorn-looking bus on a desert road. It carries a notion of "a journey into desolation." It also calls to mind some of the excellent Southwestern landscape cinematography in the movie "Paris, Texas," which is roughly about a crazy person on a journey. I don't know for sure if he's on a bus at any point in that movie, but I seem to remember that he was. Harry Dean Stanton is a good actor.

I look forward to seeing the topics you choose to write on. In the event that you ever consider taking suggestions, I offer without solicitation here that I would be interested in reading your thoughts about rock music (not only the rock music you liked before your conversion, but also rock music in general vis-à-vis traditional Catholicism), as well as Eastern Orthodoxy, and Catholic eschatology and prophecy. But you're one of my favorite posters on the traditional Catholic forums regardless, so I will be perfectly gratified to read your thoughts on whatever topics you choose. Writing is a great outlet. Buena suerte on this new endeavor.

  2. Hi Robert. I will take suggestions. I think Rock Music would be a good topic to write about as well as Eastern Orthodoxy and I could write about some of the Catholic prophecies. I would not be able to write about the Apocalypse because that is above me, but I could write about Fatima. About Rock and Roll music I could write about Van Morrison or about why I preferred "The Story of Them" over "Hot Rocks". Anyway, at least I said that once without a close examination to sound controversial. I am not opposed to Rock and Roll music in its entirety, though I understand some of the Church Fathers would oppose it in total for it's rhythms that arouse the passions, but I sometimes listen to rock and roll songs on youtube and when I am in the car I listen to oldies. But I do not listen to many of the bands that I used to like because they just seem too sleazy now. Like I can honestly say I will probably never listen to "Sister Ray" again as long as I consider myself to be a Christian. I remember I told you that I hadn't listened to any new music in years because I dismissed it and thought it wouldn't be very good and would be too sexual. But this past week for the first time in years I listened to a new band. There is a new rock and roll group called Greta Van Fleet that people are comparing to Led Zeppelin. I was intrigued and listened to their album on youtube. I thought it was pretty good and the singer sounded a lot like Robert Plant and the music was heavy like Led Zeppelin but the skill of the musicians did not compare to Led Zeppelin because they are just kids. I can't understand most of the lyrics so I don't know if they are perverse or not. When I first converted I did not listen to any rock music for a while and I just considered it the devil's music, but now I am less strict and listen to some in small doses. My younger brother is a rock and roll musician who plays the guitar.

If you want to read my thoughts on my blog the current plan is to publish one essay every two weeks on Thursdays. My last post is up a week and a half early so the next new one is not scheduled to go up until March 29th. I believe it will be about looking back at Lent and looking forward to the Easter season. I have started enough essays to last about a half of a year if I finish them all and that is without coming up with any new ideas. I have been inspired since the new year to write essays and share them which is why I started this blog.
